Maathuis Installations has joined Wageningen University & Research (WUR) and the province of Gelderland in the GAZO research initiative to accelerate the energy transition, multifunctional use of space, compliance with municipal objectives, community engagement, and environmental quality. E-Fuels in the Maritime Sector
A master's thesis highlighting the factors that drive and hinder the use of e-fuels in the maritime sector, derived from multi-system dynamics. Policy measures are proposed to phase out fossil fuels and encourage e-fuels.

Master's in Innovation Sciences – Consultancy Project (Utrecht University)
In May 2022, Maathuis Installations welcomed a team of talented Innovation Sciences master's students from Utrecht University. During their time at Maathuis Installations, they conducted research focused on "assessing the current state, barriers, and potential for the horticultural sector's adoption of green hydrogen produced via solar energy." Their final report helped Maathuis Installations and the sector better understand whether solar-produced hydrogen can serve as an alternative energy solution for greenhouses.

Gelderse Aanpak Zonnevelden met Omgevingskwaliteit (GAZO) — Wageningen University & Research (WUR) and the Province of Gelderland
Since available land is limited, we must make multifunctional use of it. To share our experience and ambitions, Maathuis Installations has joined the "Gelderland Approach to Solar Fields with Environmental Quality" (GAZO) project, a joint research initiative between the province of Gelderland and Wageningen University & Research (WUR). This five-year project includes six innovative solar field examples focused on accelerating the energy transition, multifunctional use of space, compliance with municipal objectives, community engagement, and environmental quality.
SPARKLES — Netherlands Institute of Ecology (NIOO-KNAW)
Maathuis Installations has joined the SPARKLES consortium, led by NIOO-KNAW (Netherlands Institute of Ecology), to research the use of floating solar panels. The consortium, made up of scientists and public and private partners, aims to determine the technological, ecological, and social conditions for the sustainable use of floating solar energy across different landscapes. The research seeks to contribute to the energy transition and biodiversity conservation in the Netherlands, where floating solar panels can help generate clean energy without affecting agricultural or residential areas.
